Message If the belt skips on the camshaft with the CAS then the camshaft will stay still which would act like you turned the CAS CCW (advanced timing)
If the belt skips the crankshaft then all the camshafts will stay still which would also act like you turned the CAS CCW, this would also obviously cause hesitation.

*disclaimer*: all that I say may be true or I may be completely wrong and I accept that.... please, it is your duty as another person on the internet to impolitely tell me how wrong I am :)
